Distant City
Sometimes a trip abroad finds its way onto the canvas.

This painting was inspired by my recent trip to Porto, Portugal. Although it looks nothing like Porto, I was mesmerized by the houses climbing the hillsides, the winding streets, and the Douro River below. There was something beautiful about wandering through the tiny streets and passages, never quite knowing what I would find around the next corner.
None of that was intentionally painted here, but somehow the feeling of it found its way onto the canvas.
When I look at this piece, I find myself wondering what’s happening there. It feels slightly reminiscent of somewhere I’ve been, or perhaps somewhere I still long to go. A distant city that feels strangely familiar, even though I can’t quite place it.
I decided to title it Distant City.
